Have you found yourself with the role of the family caregiver? While caring for your sick, elderly or disabled family member may be fulfilling, have you noticed yourself becoming more irritable and moody? Do you feel exhausted even after you have rested? Are you starting to get sick more often? Have you withdrawn from your friends? If you said yes to any of these questions, you may be experiencing a state called “caregiver burnout”.
At Oxford Home Care, we greatly admire family caregivers who take on the responsibility of taking care of their loved ones. However, we would like to remind them that they need to take care of themselves as well so that they can avoid caregiver burnout. Through our respite service, we provide family caregivers with the opportunity to:
- Get a much-needed break from the worries and stresses of caregiving
- Take care of their other responsibilities (i.e. Paying bills, going to work, etc.)
- Go on a vacation with their friends
- Set and go to a medical check-up
- And more
Asking for help does not mean that you no longer care about your loved one’s welfare – you are simply taking care of yourself too, and there’s nothing wrong with that. If you have any questions for us, contact us at 860-310-2898 or set an appointment now.
